The hotel is well placed, you are only a couple of minutes walk from grafton street, tourist information, and the river liffey. The Sunday carvery was delicious! The guiness is also great! And the bar has a lovely cosy atmosphere. We ate in the hotel bar twice, portions huge, and food very tasty. Very chatty, offering ideas and advice on where to visit in the city. All the reception team were friendly and helpful, and one lady stands out. Other than that i dont have anything bad to say about the hotel. My only complaint would be that the ceiling was very low in the bathroom, and my husband (who is 6ft 5in) was too tall to have a shower, but it did have a bath.

The room was spacious, with a huge bed, tv had about 15 channels, and the room was clean and tidy. We arrived three hours earlier than check in, but were able to go straight up to our room. The Mercantile, is an affordable, centrally located modern hotel. Overall, the hotel was very good although their choice of modern purple sofas where you come in was a tad gaudy.… My wife had hake I'm tomato with clams and chorizo sauce and I had smoked fish risotto. We also had dinner there and again, the food was very good. Lunch was a goat cheese and beet salad for my wife and a tuna wrap for myself. Service was a tad bit slow but the food was very good. We had a 2 night stay here and during the stay, my wife and I had both lunch and dinner there. The one downside to this hotel, depending on where your room is, it is right next to a fire station which, fortunately, we did not have to experience and sires. We notified our tour director and we were given a different room.
We were put in a handicapped room where the height of the sink only came t just above my knees. Hotel was very nice but we had one problem early on. While on a bus tour of Ireland, this was our last stop before returning to the UK.
